A briefing on Kazakhstan from H.E. Erlan Idrissov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UK since February 2017. Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Idrissov was Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 2007-2012 he was Ambassador to the USA, and first served as Ambassador to the UK from 2002-2007.
He is therefore supremely well qualified to brief us on the business opportunities in this fast growing, emerging market at the heart of Central Asia, just before the Expo in Astana opens and puts Kazakhstan in the world spotlight. The Ambassador is keen to meet companies in priority sectors such as financial and professional services (the Expo site's legacy will be as the HQ of the Kazakhstan Financial Services Centre), education & training, agribusiness, infrastructure (especially PPP projects) and oil & gas downstream industries.
This briefing is timed so those visiting the Expo (including those attending for the BEI Smart Cities Seminar on 27 June to be opened by our President, HRH The Duke of Gloucester) will understand the wider business opportunities, as well as hearing about the history and economic structure of the country.
The meeting will last for about 1 hour, with tea and coffee available from 1515, followed by the opportunity for networking drinks in our art gallery.
