My tenure as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Court of St James’s is coming to an end and I will be taking over a post of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States of America.
For over two years, I have had the honour of serving as Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom, the great country that plays such a considerable role in world affairs.
My time here in Britain has been filled with unforgettable memories that my family and I shall cherish for many years to come. My wife and I have been deeply touched by the sincerity, kindness, and hospitality of our British friends.
I think it is very symbolic that this year marks twenty-five years of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.
Indeed, our bilateral relations have reached many milestones in recent times. Kazakhstan and the UK have launched a number of important political institutions and economic mechanisms that play a tangible role in strengthening cooperation between our countries. This includes the Strategic Dialogue between our Foreign Secretaries, the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Business Council and the All Party Parliamentary Cooperation Group for Kazakhstan.
Our strategic partnership relations were further strengthened and developed during the official visit made by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2015. Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom signed many important agreements that will have a long lasting and positive impact on our bilateral relations.
I am delighted to note that trade and commercial cooperation between Astana and London is growing stronger day by day. The UK is one of the most important trade and investment partners of Kazakhstan.
The joint ventures and partnerships we have built during this period share hundreds of linkages and ambition to work together to bring about important innovations at the EXPO-2017 International Specialized Exhibition. These ties will be developed further as we launch the Astana International Financial Center which will be based on the principles of English law.
I am sure that EXPO-2017 will provide many more new opportunities for fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation and I hope that many of you will attend this international exhibition in Astana.
Let me end by expressing my sincere gratitude to all friends and partners, who have helped to strengthen Kazakh-British relations over the past 25 years. I would like to especially thank the Kazakh-British Society, the Kazakh community in the UK, and Kazakh students studying at British universities. My gratitude also goes to all our British friends for your huge contribution in making relations between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom grow even stronger. It would be impossible to reach such success without your assistance and support.
I am sure that my successor will receive the great welcome and support that I have had and I would like to thank our friends and partners for genuine friendship and good cooperation.
